Core and Glutes!!
Otherwise known as ABS and BOOTY. But I like core and glutes workout because it sounds more sciencey. And technically the core includes the glutes, but who is paying attention, right? This workout is a 10 minute video that you can follow along too. I apologize that the sound gets a little weird in there, but I tried to add some fun subtitles to fill in the blanks, and a voice over or two. Per the usual, you can do this in your house, yard, gym, living room (which is yes, a part of your house). Or you know, wherever floats your boat as long as you are maintaining that lovely 6-foot distancing rule!
Now the why part. I LIKE PLANKS. They are more effective than crunches. Moving, or dynamic, planks help train those teeny muscles right along your spine, and also attach to your hips, that help support your spine. This leads to improved posture and stronger core, which prevents injury in the long run. These muscles are also the corset muscles! You know, the ones that suck you in and make your midsection look smaller? That's right, not the "six-pack" ones, the "suck-in" ones. Then, when you combine just a little bit of glute work with hip presses and leg extensions WHILE in plank, you are doing a lot more bang for your buck!
So go ahead, and try this 10 minute super short but effective, can be done anywhere, no excuses core and glutes workout!
